A full-time artist since 1996, Wicken is known for her celebrations in oil or watercolor of people and places, with an emphasis on a bold and sensitive use of color.
Ms. Wicken received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Utah (major in painting and drawing, minor in art history) and also studied art in San Miguel de Allende and Saltillo, Mexico, as well as the Art Students League in Denver, CO. Her work has been juried into highly selective shows, has received awards, and is held in numerous private collections internationally, including work previously on loan to the American Embassy in Athens, Greece, and across the United States.
Currently, Wicken lives in Wilmington, NC and has a studio in The ArtWorks at 200 Willard St. She shows her work in the Verranzano Gallery in Wilmington as well as competitive shows in the region.
